Two of our researchers are spending this year at Stanford University for research and project work.

Professor Ove Granstrand is spending another period as visiting professor at SIEPR – Stanford Institute for Economic Policy Research, this time working on a book on Innovation and IP for Growth and Welfare plus various other projects. One project probes IP management and licensing in medical collaborative innovation. Another project regards the role of  IP in environmental innovations.

Erik Olesund is taking master courses and assisting in research.

Each year, the Licensing Executive Society (LES) selects the four best papers from its journal les Nouvelles and name them ‘Articles of the Month’. We are proud to announce that the paper ‘The 25% rule revisited and a new investment-based method for determining FRAND licensing royalties’ by our researchers Ove Granstrand and Marcus Holgersson has been awarded ‘Article of the Month’ for February 2013:

LES Article of the Month

In the paper, a new investment-based method for determining fair, reasonable, and non-discriminatory (FRAND) licensing royalties is developed. This method is not only applicable to one-to-one bilateral licensing deals but also to multilateral deals with multiple license sellers and multiple license buyers. Marcus Holgersson, who has been a core member of our group since its start, has successfully defended his PhD thesis. The thesis, that covers strategic IP management and economics of technology, was presented and discussed at a public PhD defense at Chalmers University of Technology on November 16th, 2012. The thesis was praised for its qualities both by the opponent, professor Hans-Georg Gemünden (TU-Berlin), and by the grading committee, consisting of professor Hans Björnsson (Chalmers University of Technology), professor Maureen McKelvey (Gothenburg University), and professor Jan-Eric Sundgren (AB Volvo).
